Group Therapy

Hero Kids Therapy Group

Grades 4-6

1 hour weekly, 6 weeks per session

Runs through the school year

In this 6-week group, members will use the popular role-playing game Hero Kids to build:

  • Increased Self-Confidence & Self-Esteem

  • Assertive Communication Skills

  • Flexible and Creative Thinking

  • Social Negotiation and Group Problem-Solving Skills

  • Improved Emotional Regulation and Impulse Control

  • Conflict Management Skills

  • Friendship Skills

Intake session required for assessing goodness of fit for group. No previous role playing gaming experience is necessary for participation and accommodations will be provided to support successful inclusion of participants with learning and developmental diversities.

Dungeons & Dragons Therapy Group

High School Aged Group

1.5 hours weekly, 12 weeks per session

Runs through the school year

Fictional Character

In this 12-week group, members will use the popular role-playing game Dungeons and Dragons to build:

  • Increased Self-Confidence & Self-Esteem

  • Assertive Communication Skills

  • Flexible and Creative Thinking

  • Social Negotiation and Group Problem-Solving Skills

  • Improved Emotional Regulation and Impulse Control

  • Conflict Management Skills

  • Friendship Skills

Intake session required for assessing goodness of fit for group and supporting character building. No previous D&D experience is necessary for participation and accommodations will be provided to support successful inclusion of participants with learning and developmental diversities.

Gamers & Gaming Therapy Group

Middle School Aged Group

1 hour weekly

Runs through the school year

Friends Playing Video Games

In this weekly group, members will use the popular collaborative and competitive video games & VR (such as Minecraft, Mario Kart 8, and Super Smash Bros) to build:

  • Increased Self-Confidence & Self-Esteem

  • Assertive Communication Skills

  • Flexible and Creative Thinking

  • Social Negotiation and Group Problem-Solving Skills

  • Improved Emotional Regulation and Impulse Control

  • Conflict Management Skills

  • Friendship Skills

Intake session required for assessing goodness of fit for group. A passion for gaming is necessary for participation and accommodations will be provided to support successful inclusion of participants with learning and developmental diversities. This group runs from October through May.
